The perils of exercising power

The revelation that Charlie Flanagan, the chairman of the Fine Gael parliamentary party, has hired the services of a psychologist to lecture his fellow TDs and senators on the effects of power on the brain will inevitably raise a few eyebrows.

Far be it from us to question the ability of our parliamentarians to bear the many burdens of power, but we will naturally be keeping a close eye on proceedings.

Mr Flanagan has invited TCD professor Ian Robertson, who is both a neuroscientist and a psychologist, to lecture TDs and senators of all parties.
