ALTHOUGH the twins from Carrigtwohill are unaware of the fact, their's has been a triumph of the human spirit. From the start, their mother, Angie, has called them her little fighters, and that is how they remain in the public mind, two little fighters in a country badly in need of spirit and resurgence.
The achievement of the paediatric surgeon, Edward Kiely, himself a Corkman, and his team of 30, is truly astonishing. The Great Ormond Street Hospital team has now performed more than 20 such miracles.
While the dignified calm of parents Angie and Azzedine has been an inspiration to all, the couple have, in turn, been overwhelmed by the level of support the general public has given them. Their appearance on TV triggered a massive flood of support and dozens of fundraising events.
