Sport can be perfect antidote
IN lending support to his beleaguered Taoiseach, John Gormley remarked that politics is a blood sport, something that ought to be anathema to a leader of the Green Party. Whether he likes it or not, what we do know is that sport can be an antidote -- at least for a while -- to the slings and arrows of political life.
This weekend, along with the rest of us, Brian Cowen has plenty of sport to take his mind off his troubles.
Tonight, Munster will take on the Ospreys in the Magners League at Thomond Park. The Dublin half-marathon will be run, and, in Spain, Nicolas Roche will continue to chase a top five finish at the Vuelta a Espana.
