Queen's visit highlights mutual respect between Ireland and UK

The widespread welcome which has greeted the announcement of Queen Elizabeth's visit to Ireland highlights the mutual respect that now exists between this country and Great Britain.

The itinerary and date for the visit have yet to be announced, but it is likely to be a resounding success, such is desire of most Irish people to extend the hand of friendship to the Queen, whose country shares a history with Ireland built up over centuries.

The Queen will be accompanied by Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, and it is reported that privately both are keenly looking forward to their visit.
