O'Neill has vital role to play if NI Executive is to work
What a curious leadership selection process there is in Sinn Féin. More secretive than a Vatican conclave, there is little by way of the public declarations of support by party colleagues, as would be the case in other parties. Instead, a result just emerges by osmosis from the party's ruling body.
One would almost call it militaristic.
Michelle O'Neill became the party's leader in Northern Ireland yesterday. As the party's nominee for deputy first minister, she has a vital role to play if the Stormont Executive is to succeed, so we wish her well.
