O Snodaigh's cartridge caper
Sinn Fein TD Aengus O Snodaigh's attempts to justify taking €50,000 of computer printer cartridges from the Dail stationery stores beggar belief. His claim that these cartridges were used exclusively for constituency work are hard to take seriously.
The cartridges, the equivalent of three cartridges a day for every day the Dail sat in 2007 and 2008, would have been sufficient to print 3.25 million single page letters.
If, as Mr O Snodaigh would have us believe, the cartridges were used exclusively in the course of his constituency then the unfortunate voters of Dublin South Central would have been deluged by the tsunami of correspondence gushing forth from their TD. Why didn't we hear about Mr O Snodaigh's Herculean efforts before now?
