No one is at the wheel as industrial unrest grows
It has been said that the difference between a patriot and a rebel depends on who is in power. Currently, there appears to be a surfeit of rebels and a dearth of leaders.
But when the people who form the foundation of our society can no longer afford to buy homes or make a reasonable living, one can expect consequences; one can also expect to encounter some unlikely rebels.
Yesterday, it was the gardaí who made their grievances known, but in recent days we have also heard murmurs of dissent from teachers and nurses.
