Man who changed the world

The death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs brings an end to one of the most remarkable business careers of the past half-century.

Ever since Apple started operating from a California garage in 1976, Mr Jobs was at the forefront of a process of technological innovation that has profoundly changed the way in which most of us now live and work.

Way back in the mid-1970s computers were a rarity and the few mainframes that existed were the size of a small house and cost several million dollars each.
