Killers can no longer rest easy

THE sentencing of Vera McGrath this week was the result of a review of her husband's murder by the garda cold-case team, and today we report that no less than 14 unsolved murder cases are being revisited by the team.
The stuff of TV dramas and thrillers, the cold-case investigation is now a very real phenomenon and has revolutionised police work.
Aided by science and technology, gardai can reach into the past to procure incontrovertible evidence in a way that would have been impossible only a few years ago.
