Keaveney scored own goal in move

PERHAPS it's an over-worked analogy, but the decision made by Roy Keane in Saipan a decade ago and the call made by Labour deputy and party chairman Colm Keaveney in the Dail chamber this week are not without parallels.
It's probably true that both tossed, turned and endured sleepless nights before they made the fateful decision that would go on to shape their careers.
The analogy can be worked that bit harder too, because it could be argued that both made serious errors of judgment and mistook expediency for courage and shor-termism for coherent strategy.
