Editorial

A lack of joined-up thinking was a hallmark of the Celtic Tiger era. A laissez-faire approach was adopted to many areas of public policy, where the only solution was to throw money at a problem and assume it would go away.

The post-collapse environment was supposed to be different. Policies were supposed to be carefully considered from all the angles before being enacted.

The latest figures on mortgage availability in the market suggests the system is majorly awry.
