Irish fans treated to a major sporting feast

We have enjoyed a sporting banquet this past weekend. It has delighted Irish people at home and abroad and augurs very well for the future.
In freezing Vienna on Saturday night, the Republic of Ireland soccer team did our World Cup 2018 qualifying chances no end of good with a precious one-goal win over the Austrian side. Historically, our visits to the Austrians, who are formidable footballing rivals, have not been very fruitful, making this win all the more welcome.
And just a short time later at Lansdowne Road in Dublin, our national rugby XV took the field against Canada. A big win against the Canadians, who played with some flair and racked up three tries, was no big surprise.
