Just like that. What a remarkable coincidence. Without any co-ordination whatsoever, striking Bus Éireann drivers individually decided to place pickets on public transport depots from where Dublin Bus, Iarnród Éireann and Dart services operate.

The staff working from these bases did not cross the picket lines when they showed up to work. Fair enough.

However, the illegal strike did discommode hundreds of thousands of travelling members of the public on their way to work, school and going about their daily business.
