Hitting moving target a struggle

THE Justice Minister says that, under new legislation, gardai are to be given powers to prosecute so-called head shops. This is excellent news, as far as it goes. Does the minister mean that we will be rid of these obnoxious stores and their vile products any time soon?

Has the Government found a way to circumvent the bureaucratic obstacles that have prevented it from acting until now?

Are we to deduce from Dermot Ahern's words that action is now imminent? He said: "We are looking to ban particular items. We are going to look at the criminal justice area to see can we change the law. . ."
