Grounded by the power of nature
AIR passengers displayed great patience and fortitude, even humour, when their travel plans were thrown into chaos by a cloud of volcanic ash yesterday. It showed how philosophical people can be when faced with a life or death choice.
The choice, of course, was made for them, as flights in and out of Ireland were cancelled for fear the lethal ash would down a plane.
The Irish air traffic authorities were taking exactly the same precautions as those in the UK, Sweden, Belgium, Holland, and Denmark, all affected by the eruptions from an Icelandic mountain.
