End perks for ex-Taoisigh
WHEN it comes to uncovering the unexpected, nothing beats a thorough search in the dustier corners of Government Buildings. It can reveal, among many other things, the variety of perks enjoyed by the former Taoisigh who have made our country, as the saying goes, "what it is".
At whatever cost to their dignity, they have lost some perks, like limousines and garda drivers. Others are now in line for the chop. They include free mobile phones and charges for VIP lounges at airports.
This is the way of senior politicians and the civil servants who advise them.
