Broadcaster should publish pay figures

RTE director general Noel Curran laid down the law to the state-owned broadcaster's big earners when he told them to accept a 30pc pay cut from 2008 levels or take a hike.
And about time too. For far too long, taxpayers have massively subsidised RTE's high-rollers.
Last year RTE received €196m from the TV tax -- the TV licence fee -- over half of its total revenue of €371m.
