Abandoned pylon plan raises many questions

EIRGRID has abandoned its plans to build a €215m network of overhead pylons from Cork to Kildare.
It is a move that will save much needed public funds but raises many questions about the development of the hugely unpopular programme by the semi-state company.
The pylons proposal, which met with strong resistance from members of the public - who expressed concerns over their impact on health, amongst other things - was developed as far back as 2008.
