A terrible duty has been born

THE good news is that the air of impending doom surrounding the unveiling of the four-plan to save our broken economy has abated. The bad news is that the scale of the wreckage has sapped much of the energy and spirit that will be essential for the salvage operation to begin in earnest.
The truth is we cannot afford the self-indulgence of lethargy or apathy that often precedes facing up to a daunting task.
The show must go on. We know the size and depth of the cuts, the knife will go through to the bone and there is no effective anaesthetic.
