A health system in disgrace

THE review into why nearly 58,000 adult X-rays were not examined by any radiologist at Tallaght Hospital is uncompromising in its criticism of the hospital itself and of the Health Service Executive.
The sloppy and negligent procedures it has highlighted could be a microcosm of a dysfunctional health service presided over by the huge bureaucracy that is the HSE.
The Tallaght Hospital Review found an absence of formal policies and protocols at the hospital, difficulties with radiology and information technology and even problems with the typing up of reports.
