THE news that the members of 'The Commitments' are to reunite for a number of anniversary performances next year is a reminder of how time flies and how times have changed.
The young actors and musicians who created a delightful film version of Roddy Doyle's book, under the watchful tutelage of director Alan Parker, are now 20 years older.
And the country could use a dose of the cocky optimism that underpinned the story and the movie. Yes, the country was in recession at the start of 1991 but, in the decade that followed, the Celtic Tiger made the country consistently the fourth fastest growing economy in the world.
