A bonus slap in the face

AIB's executive chairman David Hodgkinson rushed out a note to his staff yesterday, informing them €40m in bonuses to a number of executives 'reflects the past'.
Mr Hodgkinson was clearly embarrassed. Taxpayers who have so far pumped €3.5bn into the institution are, understandably, seething.
The €40m is on top of another €55m already paid out last year. The average bonus is €16,700.
