WELL, did you win? Are you and your syndicate pals €16m better off this morning? So accustomed have we become to hearing astronomical sums bandied about in the context of NAMA and Budget cuts, €16m doesn't sound all that much.
€16m is the value of former Anglo Irish Bank chairman Sean FitzPatrick's reported share in a Nigerian oil field. It is the sum that Liverpool football club manager Benitez can expect if he is sacked at the end of this season.
€16m would cover the cost of rolling out Mary Harney's cancelled cervical cancer vaccine. It was last year's budget for consumer protection in this country and it was the amount offered to the artist known as Prince for a tour of Europe that never happened.
