This week, the rapper, artist and designer Kanye West was taken to hospital in Los Angeles to be treated for exhaustion. There have been several conflicting descriptions of what exactly happened to West that led to psychiatric professionals becoming involved, but the general consensus seems to be that he's been sleep deprived, and appeared to have some sort of breakdown while at his personal trainer's home that made his doctor fear for West's own safety, and that of others around him.

West had been acting unusually in the preceding days.

A man known to be fond of a rant at the best of times, his on-stage ramblings during his Saint Pablo tour began to make less and less sense, and last weekend, he walked off stage after only four songs. The next night's gig was cancelled, then the entire North American tour was called off, despite having dates booked right up until New Year's Eve. The next day, West was admitted to hospital, seemingly voluntarily, where he remained at the time of going to press.
