The kids shouldn't bother chasing our inheritance - there'll be precious little left anyway

So it looks as if a change in law is coming that will remove parents' moral duty to leave an inheritance for their children.

Bill Gates will probably be mollified. The founder of Microsoft is worth tens of billions but he has said he is leaving only a tiny fraction of his wealth to his children, because he believes getting the lot would ruin them. Now the law will be on his side.

What Bill Gates's children feel about their father's decision is not on record. Mind you, even a tiny fraction of $74bn (€66bn) is more money than most of us will ever see in a lifetime, so we ought not to worry about them too much.
