State has a role to play in press governance, not its operation
It's interesting for someone like myself - who used to work in media - to look at the sector now, 20 years after I left it.
While a great deal has changed, some important aspects endure. The media still reflects and shapes the society it serves, it still challenges us and illuminates the problems and the controversies of our times.
As citizens of a democracy, we all have a vested interest in a free and diverse media - new and traditional.
