Notebook: A look at the week that was

I spent the week being baffled. During a televised debate, a domineering man made strange sexual references to a woman who challenged his opinion.

The cold irony of meeting George Hook in the context of Donald Trump debating Hillary Clinton isn't lost on me. They share a fascinating ability to present their opinion as if it were fact.

As with any lovers' tiff, I have spent my days since my heated debate with George on Cutting Edge thinking of all the smart comebacks I should have thrown at him. Then I watched the presidential debate and I felt reassured. Watching Hillary Clinton calmly wait for Trump to tire himself out ranting, or get to the point, whichever came first, reminded me that some cantankerous old men are impervious to rational conversation.
