Medb Ruane: Gwen Stefani sang at Roman's party. Guests included Lindsay Lohan and Eddie Murphy. Your cuts in child benefit may have enabled a tiny piece of that joy ...
Roman Abramovich, Dermot Desmond and Denis O'Brien won a mention this week in the latest Football Rich List. It showed that while the greasy tills may be quiet in various economic sectors, the turnstiles are showing recession-beating profits.
Football's overall value is stg£8bn (€9.15bn) higher than last year, and it's now worth stg£77bn, according to media outlet FourFourTwo. That level of profit makes it much, much more than a game.
Abramovich scored higher in fourth place than the two Irishmen, with O'Brien falling one place down to seventh richest, while Desmond rose up a place to 11th. Amazingly, the Irishmen are estimated to be even richer than last year, with O'Brien said to be worth stg£0.14bn more than in 2009 and Desmond's wealth reported at an extra stg£0.39bn.
