Any moves on the Fair Deal scheme which could benefit farmers with large assets but low incomes are to be welcomed.

But the Attorney General's warning about potential legal roadblocks will set alarm bells ringing within the farming community.

It is too simplistic to label reforms to the Fair Deal for farmers as favouritism or pandering to the much-coveted farming vote.
