It's great to see such enthusiasm for coding - that's why I'm rolling it out for every child

No matter what career a young person contemplates, there is one thing for sure, digital technology is revolutionising it. We can already see the agents of change - cloud, mobile, social and the internet of things. Coding is the thing which is designing this world of change.

It is the key for the generation of children recently born. For them, creative thinking and problem-solving will be absolutely crucial to how they develop and achieve their potential.

Last week, I joined in a coding lesson with sixth-class students from St Olaf's National School in Sandyford, Dublin.
