THE FINDINGS of the Smithwick Tribunal report are shocking and dramatic.

They are also of special interest to me personally, as I was appointed investigator by Judge Peter Smithwick to the Tribunal on October 4, 2006. My involvement terminated in August 2007.

The remit of the enquiry was simple – to investigate claims of collusion between gardai and members of the IRA in the murders of RUC Supt Bob Buchanan and Chief Supt Harry Breen.
