Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin delivered a lengthy speech at his party's annual commemoration of Theobald Wolfe Tone. Brexit was mentioned and so was Donald Trump. But although he spoke of what he perceived as rival party Fine Gael's failings, Taoiseach Enda Kenny was conspicuously absent from his remarks.
However, one Fine Gaeler singled out for special treatment was Social Protection Minister Leo Varadkar. You'd almost be forgiven for thinking that Mr Kenny had already handed over the reigns of power to Mr Varadkar and ridden off into the sunset.
But as Mr Kenny's remarks at the Fine Gael Presidential Dinner on Saturday night show, he has no intention of going anywhere, any time soon.
