Dee O’Keeffe: This footage could come back to haunt them in adult years

THE sight of two first-year girls having a distinctly amateur hair-pulling fest, allegedly over a boy, failed to shock me. Even the ambulance-chasing spectators egging them on with chants of "go on, punch her" and "get the face" seem commonplace for any generation.

But what is shocking about the fight is that more than 10,000 of us have seen it online.

And while it is admirable that the grown-ups, in the form of anti-bullying campaigners, school representatives and the Gardai, have waded in so quickly and professionally, the real question is what can they actually do of any consequence?
