Deceitful and intransigent maybe, but Greece deserves better

Something strange happened yesterday; the world's financial markets trembled but there was no rout. Shares fell but we have seen worse days recently, sometimes for no reason.

That was good news for almost everybody bar Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras. A market meltdown would have strengthened his hand in talks but the market reaction suggests the Greeks are on their own.

This nonchalant shrug is only the latest manifestation of a general indifference towards Greece which often merges with plain disdain.
