The night of this year's Ulster final, Tony Boyle took his children to The Diamond in Donegal town for something that had been lost to a generation.
During his two years working as a selector with John Joe Doherty, the kids had accompanied him just about everywhere but, now, their eyes were saucers. This image of a cup being waved from a trailer was alien to everything they had come to associate with Donegal football.
And, looking around The Diamond, a thought struck Boyle that anyone in that throng younger than, say, 20 would have grown up without a single memory of the last homecoming.
