Rory O'Neill is a riot. No - really. His show Riot is opening for a two-week run at Vicar Street on July 6. But more than that, Rory - who plays Marilyn-from-Mayo blonde Panti with lipstick-withering coquettishness - is actually a riot because he wears his heart, or his libido, on his sleeve.

Rory told me last weekend was very busy, primarily because of "the most civilised break-up ever with a fella I had a delightfully torrid few months' affair with. I'm not saying where he's from because he'd kill me."

Short-lived torrid affairs with men of indeterminate nationality notwithstanding, Rory is home to Mayo next Thursday to meet the love of his life. "It is my mum's 80th birthday and the whole family are going to stay in a hotel in Belmullet," Rory said, referring to The Talbot Hotel.
