Should we be sorry for Prince Harry? The 32-year-old is never going to be short of a few bob, and his life is unlikely to be troubled by anxiety about procuring a mortgage. On the other hand, he's always had to play 'the spare' to 'the heir'.

And his troubles with love! His paramours keep escaping the net, mainly, it seems, because they can't stand the thought of being followed by the paps and the mags for the rest of their lives. Concerned about the pressure on his latest companion, the American Meghan Markle, he has said he'll personally pay for professional protection to defend her from the onslaughts of a very public life. He's also enraged that "racist, sexist trolls" have tried to smear the 35-year-old Ms Markle by uploading sex scenes she performed (in the drama 'Suits') to a porn website.

He's been supported by official statements from Kensington Palace deploring the trolls.
