The National Library, a genteel warehouse for leather-bound books and musty, mysterious smells, is not an obvious setting for an underground resistance movement.
But the venerable institution, a stone's throw from Leinster House, this week became the latest battlefield in an escalating campaign of guerrilla warfare against the Government.
The trade unions that run the library, among many other state services, are currently waging a war of attrition which has already seen stand-offs staged at the passport and tax offices.
