It's high time we did something as a nation to show her we recognise her value, too: a stamp or coin would be a start

IF it's inspirational figures we need in Ireland today, let's cast our eyes towards the Munster coastline, home to a little old lady -- bitterly though she'd resent the description -- who has made her mark on the world.

Older than the Irish Free State, as spirited as a John Ford heroine (she was the prototype), Maureen O'Hara celebrated her 90th birthday on Tuesday in her adopted home of west Cork.
