Kevin Myers: The mandarin classes simply do not hear what it is inconvenient for them to know
NO DOUBT you spend much of your time wondering why the things that you (and everyone you know) want never seem to happen.
Take, for example, what the splendid Martina Devlin was writing about yesterday: the scandalous but lawfully enforced marginalisation of separated fathers. Almost no one -- apart from a minority of bile-filled feminists -- wants this, yet the ruthless abandonment of fathers as fathers, alongside their retention as financial milch cows for the mother-run family, is now almost institutionalised in legal stone.
I might equally cite the huge and incredulous response from readers as they begin to realise the scale of the monumental folly of Metro North.
