Kevin Myers: Sorry truth is that to have a visibly honest banking system we'll have to outsource the inspectorate

Five years on from the collapse of our financial sector, and we STILL haven't agreed on how to enquire into what went wrong. What a surprise. Our political class is now blaming the failure of the referendum last October for this, which is rather like blaming the 1916 Rising on the Black and Tans.

Now, it's one of the core beliefs of the left that multinationals are beyond the law of any state.

Yet, as the banking scandals have shown, powerful indigenous companies are the ones that most threaten the legal system of the countries they operate within.
