Kevin Myers: Blair's got away with it, but all lies in ruin behind him
He is now a well-feted millionaire, comfortably ensconced within the weird self-regarding, politico/ showbiz network that manages to reach from Clinton, Hewson and Geldof to Adams, Naomi Campbell and Mandela
THE Grinning Monster from the Dark Lagoon is back, swanning across our TV screens and smirking from every newspaper. Already, I'm war-weary from seeing the Tony Blair cheeriness, the Tony Blair teeth, the Tony Blair happy informality. And like all consummate fraudsters, he has succeeded with his great con: his reputation is intact, although almost all lies in ruin behind him.
It is this reputation, those teeth, those riveting little eyes, that remorselessly bogus conviviality, that apparently disable interviewers. Ryan Tubridy was the first television interviewer to bowl at him. It was like seeing Mia Farrow lobbing under-arm at Viv Richards.
