In March 2011, as Fine Gael gloated over its 76 TDs, 19 Senators and four MEPs, King Enda's FG had definitively supplanted FF as the top dogs of Irish politics.

Now, just three years later, astonishingly the Taoiseach is faced with a split party and a threatened legacy.

In fact, things can change even more quickly for just one week ago the headlines were all about 'a decade of prosperity'.
