In time our 'national conversation about Europe and all that' will be seen as representing the strangest, the most eerie and the saddest of referendums.
Sadly, but inevitably, when it came to the strange, plenty of that was provided by our dressed mannequin of a Taoiseach.
Or rather, it was provided by the supine media response to the sight of Mr Kenny running like the clappers from the prospect of any live debate on a vote that theoretically represented a defining moment in the history of the State.
