John Drennan: Referendum watch: Lost in the bilaterals as Rehn rocks boat
The wren may be the king of all birds but the Government spent last week wishing a Rehn of a very different sort had chirruped a little less loudly. By the close of a doleful week for the Yes side Michael Noonan offered the blundering Finn a fool's pardon with the observation that poor Olli had been feeling "frayed".
Though being "frayed" is a sensation those of us who must spend our lives paying the gambling debts of Sean FitzPatrick are familiar with, things must be worse than we thought if even Olli is living in the same way as the rest of us.
Meanwhile, as speculation hardened over a May Day doomsday referendum, this was a week when the Government lost more votes than it won.
