Poor Micheal Martin. The luckless leader of Fianna Fail could hardly be blamed if he said "say it ain't so, Gay" when the second frontrunner in this campaign to date rang him yesterday morning to say "goodbye, see you everybody and, no, there is no presidential candidate present in the audience for Fianna Fail".
In truth we should not be too surprised by Gay's decision to turn down the charity of his new FF friends.
One of the lessons we never learn is that when something appears too good to be true... well, then maybe it actually is too good to be true.
