ONE of the most famous Irish political quotes was the 'appeal' by Gerry Collins to Albert Reynolds to "please don't burst up the party" when the latter was hunting for the head of Charlie Haughey.
Last week, quite a few unspoken pleas, particularly by the opposition, were being directed towards Fianna Fail to refrain from 'bursting up the Budget'.
They can only hope the appeals fare better than Gerry's -- for like in boxing where the punch you don't see is the one that takes you out, the Budget could 'finally kill the FF king'.
