FIANNA Fail is planning to use the result of the Donegal South West by-election as a springboard to hold onto power until 2012.
Top-level party figures believe a 'shock' win for Fianna Fail could make the Greens anxious to stay in Government until they have secured significant achievements in the areas of climate change, the Dublin mayoralty and corporate donations.
Fianna Fail figures are increasingly bullish about the possibility that they can pull off a shock victory.
