John Drennan: Dallas-style feuds continue in FG grand ol' soap-opry
There are many parallels between the shenanigans of Fine Gael and those of the popular 1980s soap, writes John Drennan
IN 1980, when coincidentally Ireland was mired in another recession caused by a sleeping Fianna Fail administration, the consciousness of the country was dominated by the famous American soap opera Dallas.
It was the year when JR Ewing had been shot, and such was the public interest the infamous Who shot JR Ewing song by TR Dallas went to number one in the charts.
Dallas and those I shot JR T-shirts may be long gone, but like the stay-at-home vacation, Ireland is being entertained in 2010 by our own home-grown soap opera called Fine Gael.
