John Drennan: Coalition facing defections over Budget health cuts

Fine Gael Health Minister James Reilly could spark further defections from the coalition ranks should hospitals or a raft of State-owned nursing homes be closed in the wake of the Budget.
And the Sunday Independent has been told that some of the resignations might even include a couple of his own Cabinet colleagues.
In the wake of two "emotional" presentations to Labour and FG that sparked fears of up to a dozen hospital closures, 40 nursing home closures, the tripling of prescription charges and a €50 medical-card charge, deputies within Fine Gael and Labour united to condemn the minister.
